The Scoville scale is a measure of the "hotness" of a chili pepper. These fruits of the Capsicum genus contain capsaicin, a chemical compound which stimulates thermoreceptor nerve endings in the skin, especially the mucus membranes, and the number of Scoville heat units (SHU) indicates the amount of capsaicin present. Many hot sauces use their Scoville rating in advertising as a selling point. The scale is named after its creator, chemist Wilbur Scoville.

Sorry - had a very busy few weeks so haven't updated...But here it is. The new Serrano's are in pots already, the bonsai's grew another inch & are making pods, & I planted out 10 more Siams....amongst other things.

Level 5 water restrictions in a few days - but they're going to be same as I've been doing anyway, so all I need to fear is looming winter.

Ripening Hab. YUM

Planting out the old compost plot: Parent Siam at the back left side, Hab on the right, there's a Cayenne between them. I planted out more Siams and a Birdseye at the left hand corner. Should get some nice crosses I hope.

Mystery Thai: turned up in a pot next to the BBQ. Someone must have tossed a pod in, there's 6 of them growing in 1/2 " of space. Nice & hot.
